5 Yoga Poses to Relieve Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is one of the most common complaints we hear and the good news is yoga can be a simple and effective way to find relief. At The Bloom Loft we focus on gentle supportive movement that helps release tension improve mobility and strengthen the muscles that support your spine. Whether you are dealing with occasional tightness or ongoing discomfort these five yoga poses are a great place to start.

Childs Pose is a go to for instant relief. This pose gently stretches the lower back hips and thighs while allowing your body to fully relax. At The Bloom Loft we often encourage using a bolster or folded blanket under your chest for extra support making the pose even more comfortable and accessible.

Cat Cow is a gentle movement that helps warm up the spine and release tension in the back. As you move between arching and rounding your spine with your breath you create space and mobility in the lower back. It is especially helpful if you have been sitting for long periods of time.

Knees to Chest is a simple but effective pose. Lying on your back and gently hugging your knees into your chest helps decompress the spine and release tightness. You can also rock side to side for a light massage effect on the lower back.

Supine Twist is great for relieving built up tension along the spine. A gentle twist can help stretch the lower back and improve circulation. Using a blanket or bolster under your knees at The Bloom Loft allows you to relax into the pose without strain.

Bridge Pose focuses on strengthening the muscles that support your lower back. This pose activates your glutes and core helping to stabilize and protect your spine. Move slowly and with control focusing on your breath rather than how high you lift.

The key to using yoga for lower back pain is consistency and listening to your body. None of these poses should feel sharp or painful. If they do it is a sign to ease up or modify the movement. Practicing in a supportive environment can make a big difference.

At The Bloom Loft we provide everything you need from mats to bolsters blankets and calming essential oils so you can focus entirely on your practice. Our instructors are there to guide you offer modifications and help you feel confident in every movement.

If your lower back has been asking for a little extra care this is your sign to slow down stretch and reconnect with your body. Relief might be simpler than you think.
